My oldest daughter turns 12 this summer. She slowly starts to get annoyed and "misunderstood" by us (and her twin brother, sisters, the alarm clock, One Direction on the radio, the garage door etc etc). All absolutely normal behavior for a young girl her age.
Having a daughter this age, in my eyes just passed the toddler-fase, with "problems" that suit her age and life experience, I was shocked to read about the death of a 14 year old child bride in Turkey. She died only a week after her second child was still born. Having to coop with the death of your second child is not something that a teenager should be dealing with!
Child marriage is so wrong for so many reasons. But unfortunately it is still happening today. And to be exact, it will happen 25.000 times today!! If we don't stop this now, there will be 142.000.000 girls married as children by the end of this decade! That just has to stop. Not only to give these million girls a future like we all wish for our children, but also to fight poverty, school drop outs, health problems and so many other issues that come with child marriage!
